Handmade in Kisii by a craft cooperative with the aim of chasing away poverty and ensuring their artisans have food, shelter, clothes, clean water to drink, medical facilities and better education for their children.

This soap dish is a great addition to any bathroom, with five holes to drain water, and a simple, soft natural design.

Sustainably mined in Kenya, soapstone is a beautifully tactile metamorphic rock with an appearance similar to marble. The natural variations in the surface are part of its unique beauty; no two are quite the same!

Handmade in Kisii by a craft cooperative with the aim of chasing away poverty and ensuring their artisans have food, shelter, clothes, clean water to drink, medical facilities and better education for their children.

Dinner guests will love the unique warm, polished look of the olive wood and intricate pattern on the bone accents.

Our contemporary hand carved utensils are crafted in Nairobi by Zephania and his small team. He uses Wild Olive and Neem wood that is all sustainably sourced from his plantation in Kenya, alongside bone and soapstone from a local quarry.

Bone accents are a bi-product of the Kenyan farming industry and each design is hand batiked using vegetable dyes. This may cause slight variations from the image shown.

Sizing: 21cm x 8cm

Product Care:

Olive wood has an excellent reputation for being harder and less porous than other woods. We recommend hand washing your wooden utensils with a mild detergent and warm water. Avoid boiling water and dishwashers as high temperatures may cause the wood to expand and split. Always towel dry after washing to prevent moisture cracks.

The same measures apply to wooden utensils with horn or bone accents.

Treat them once a month with a food safe mineral oil (we like to use olive oil). Simply rub in a small amount with a soft cloth to condition the wood and restore its warm, polished look.

This throw is completely hand woven by a women's co-operative in rural Tanzania.

Founded in 1983 to help impoverished female school leavers in rural areas of Tanzania where higher education for girls is typically not a high priority, The Women Weavers Association comprises a school to train the weavers, a loom production unit to build the essential equipment, a dying unit to produce the dye for the yarn, and a shop where the products are sold.

All of their materials are woven from 100% Tanzanian cotton that is grown and spun in the country and each piece is dyed by hand in their workshop.

The group is made up of 35 women weavers who produce everything by hand. In 1993 the project became a workers cooperative owned and governed by the women who are its members.

The women benefit and share the profits they make amongst themselves. Each member benefits in proportion to her contribution to production and sales.

Materials: 100% Cotton

Sizing: 145 x 235cm

Product Care:

Our Tanzanian throws are made using 100% Tanzanian cotton. They can be machine washed on your coolest cycle (30 degrees and below). The cotton will become softer with every wash. Due to the nature of the weave you'll need to be careful when machine washing them. Always place them inside a delicates bag or pillowcase to avoid any snagging.

Always wash with similar colours and iron on a medium heat.

They are not suitable for tumble drying or dry cleaning, please leave your textiles to dry naturally.

Avoid placing them in direct sunlight as this may cause the dye to fade slightly.
