The Joy of a Picnic

picnic ideas

You may or may not have known that the 17th June marked the beginning of a pretty special week; not only was it National Picnic Week, but also… English Wine Week!

Now, we may have been a little late to the party, but with various members of the team working different days and the wonderfully unpredictable English weather, we waited until last week to pack up our picnic hamper (well, Sarah’s).

We thought we’d share it with you, with the hopes that it inspires you to do the same (& you could win £50 for doing so!)

“You bring your own weather to a picnic” - Harlem Coben

It’s scientifically proven that a bit of al fresco dining does wonders for our health and wellbeing.

The fresh air, the beautiful surroundings and of course the company of great friends or family are all contributing factors.

One of the many benefits to being a small business is the lovely dynamic between our team, and we don’t need much of an excuse to get everybody out of the studio to enjoy a well-earned break together.

In celebration of English Wine Week...

In celebration of English Wine Week (any excuse!), we took some bottles from our favourite English winemakers; Hattingley Valley. If you haven’t tried them, we can wholeheartedly recommend them.

They’re one of the UK’s most successful wineries, winning over 100 medals, 13 trophies and Best in Class for their English sparkling wines.

We opted for the sparkling Rosé and the Classic Reserve for our picnic and both went down a treat with the team!

Our Top Tips for a Joyful Picnic:

1 - Keep food preparations simple

The less faff, the simpler it is to gather everything up to enjoy (and also the easier it is to eat it).

2 - Forage for Flowers

A simple wild flower arrangement adds a sense of occasion to your picnic. If little ones are involved, you could even get them to create a little jam jar arrangement before, or during your picnic.

3 - Scent the Occasion
The ambience of candlelight adds intimacy and mood-boosting aromas. Our entire Summer collection is inspired by the outdoors, but our favourite for a picnic has to be Bramble Row.

4 - Comfort is Key

Don't forget the cushions and picnic blanket! We didn't have one, so grabbed a tablecloth which did the job and looked pretty. Nobody wants a soggy bottom, do they?

5 - Choose the perfect Tipple

Choose a special wine, create some refreshing mocktails, or perhaps a homemade cordial ahead of your picnic. Just remember to bring a cool bag to keep your drinks lovely and cold.
